Little Red Riding Short Story

Once upon a time, there was a sweet little girl who was loved by everyone, especially her grandmother. Her grandmother gave her a red velvet cap that looked so good on her that she wore it all the time. Everyone called her Little Red Riding Hood.

One day, her mother said, “Here, Little Red Riding Hood, take this piece of cake and a bottle of drink to your grandmother. She is sick and weak, and these will help her feel better. Go before it gets too hot, and remember to walk slowly and carefully. Don’t run off the path or you might fall and break the bottle. When you get to her house, say ‘Good morning’ and don’t look around too much.”

“I will be careful,” said Little Red Riding Hood, and she set off with the treats.

The grandmother lived in a house in the woods, not far from the village. On her way, Little Red Riding Hood met a wolf. She didn’t know that the wolf was dangerous and wasn’t afraid of him.

“Hello, Little Red Riding Hood,” said the wolf.

“Hello, wolf,” she replied.

“Where are you going so early?” asked the wolf.

“I’m going to my grandmother’s house,” she answered.

“What do you have in your apron?” asked the wolf.

“I have cake and a drink. My grandmother is sick, so I’m bringing her something good to make her feel better.”

“Where does your grandmother live?” the wolf asked.

“She lives a bit farther in the woods, under the three large oak trees, near the nut trees,” said Little Red Riding Hood.

The wolf thought to himself, “What a tasty meal she will be. It would be better to eat both her and her grandmother. I need to think of a clever plan.”

The wolf walked with Little Red Riding Hood for a while, then said, “Look at the pretty flowers around here. Why don’t you pick some for your grandmother? It’s a beautiful day, and you might find even more beautiful flowers.”

Little Red Riding Hood thought it was a good idea, so she left the path to pick flowers. As she picked one, she saw another even prettier one farther away and kept going deeper into the woods.

Meanwhile, the wolf ran straight to the grandmother’s house. He knocked on the door.

“Who is it?” asked the grandmother.

“It’s Little Red Riding Hood,” said the wolf. “I have cake and a drink for you. Please open the door.”

“Lift the latch,” called the grandmother. “I’m too weak to get up.”

The wolf opened the door, went straight to the grandmother’s bed, and ate her. Then he put on her clothes and cap and lay down in her bed, pretending to be her.

Little Red Riding Hood, still picking flowers, finally remembered her grandmother and went to her house. She noticed the door was open and felt something was strange. When she went inside, she found her “grandmother” looking very odd.

“Grandmother, what big ears you have!” she said.

“All the better to hear you with,” replied the wolf.

“Grandmother, what big eyes you have!” said Little Red Riding Hood.

“All the better to see you with,” answered the wolf.

“Grandmother, what big hands you have!” she said.

“All the better to hug you with,” said the wolf.

“Grandmother, what a big mouth you have!” Little Red Riding Hood exclaimed.

“All the better to eat you with!” shouted the wolf, and he jumped out of bed and swallowed Little Red Riding Hood.

Just then, a huntsman was passing by and heard the wolf snoring loudly. He thought it was strange and decided to check. When he saw the wolf in bed, he realized it might have eaten the grandmother. He took a pair of scissors and carefully cut open the wolf’s belly. Out jumped Little Red Riding Hood, saying, “How dark and scary it was inside the wolf!”

The grandmother also came out, weak but alive. Little Red Riding Hood quickly filled the wolf’s belly with heavy stones. When the wolf woke up and tried to run, the stones were too heavy, and he fell down and died.

The huntsman took the wolf’s skin and went home. The grandmother ate the cake and drank the drink Little Red Riding Hood had brought, and she felt better. Little Red Riding Hood promised herself that she would never leave the path again when her mother had asked her not to.

Later, when Little Red Riding Hood took more cakes to her grandmother, another wolf tried to trick her. But Little Red Riding Hood remembered her mother’s advice and stayed on the path. She told her grandmother about the new wolf. The grandmother made sure the door was locked, and the wolf tried to sneak in from the roof. But he slipped into a trough of water and drowned.

Little Red Riding Hood went home happily, and from then on, she was safe and careful.
